Lealure Tindall showed Tim Jackman as a child what it meant to serve others, and it’s a lesson that has stayed with him decades later.

The Previsor Insurance Interim President and CEO received the Lealure Tindall Memorial Award at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Luncheon at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Missouri, on Jan. 20.

The award was presented by the African American Student Union, which helps to choose a recipient who has demonstrated a commitment to and passion for serving others in the spirit of Dr. King and is worthy of honoring the memory and legacy of Lealure Tindall. Tindall, who passed away in 2017, worked at CMU from 2003 to 2017 and was the staff sponsor of AASU at its inception.

Tindall was also a longtime member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church where Jackman has been a member for more than 50 years.

Jackman has served in numerous capacities in the church, including formerly as Administrative Council Chair. He serves or has served on numerous other boards and committees, and for the past 20 years has been the coordinator of the annual Juneteenth Celebration in Fayette.

Jackman said while the recognition is a “crowning moment” in his life, it’s a reminder of something bigger:

“If you have a passion and conviction in serving others, that race is not over. There’s still so much more to do.”
